Welcome

Welcome to the Thorpe Hall & Wakering Hunter Field Target Club website. This site has been designed to provide you with information about us, and what we can offer potential new members. We aim to promote interest for both the competitive and fun shooter alike, whilst at the same time promoting Air Rifle safety.

We shoot every other Sunday and cater for Air Rifles and Air Pistols. Our 10-50yd plinking range has a wide variety of knockdown and paper targets. Since moving to this site in July 2006 we have increased our knockdown target trail from 9 to 25 targets, and we have plans to extend this further. Also we now hold an internal competition once a month. This all takes place in a 3 acre private wood.

If you have never shot an air rifle before, and would like to try something different. Why not come along and try it. Shooting an air rifle is not difficult, but hitting a small target 100 feet away can be. We have plenty of people who can give you free and impartial advice on the various types of rifles, pellets and other associated equipment. Contact us now to arrange a visit. It will not cost you anything either, as your first visit is completely FREE.

We are a very friendly bunch, and are always keen to welcome new members. Our membership covers a wide age range including children (accompanied by an adult over 21 of course), and we have a wide knowledge base of anything airgun related. We are a non-profit club, so any residue funds are used for the benefit of our members.

History

We are a new club which has been formed from the original Thorpe Hall & Wakering FTC based at Baldwin's farm, Barling Magna, Essex. The club has been in existence for a number of years, and the site is an open field with various targets set at 10-50yds. Our new club has moved to a three-acre private wood situated between Hawkwell and Rochford. The new site was used for the first time on the 2nd July 2006, and went down extremely well with all our members. Since our move and through word of mouth, our membership has increased dramatically.
